Great food and friendly service. I eat there all the time. Nice place for week-enders. Live music at night on week-ends too!!

New owners. Upgraded premises. Slimmed down menu. Four of us went Thursday night. All ordered prime rib. Great choice. Cooked to perfection.

I can say on the positive side that the servers were friendly and attentive. That's all they good I can say. I had the Havana Chicken which was thin and tastes bland at best. The crab cakes were large but smelled fishy. Next time I'll go down to 633.

We did not have a good experience here. It took 45 mins for us to get our order. My husband did the all you can eat wings but they only give you 4 at a time and even though he order the next plate after eating one wing it still took 20 mins for the next plate of 4. I was done with my food after his first 4 wings. We sat around waiting a lot that he didn't even bother with another order even though he was still hungry so we stop and had an appetizer and a drink at another restaurant. We were so annoyed by the lack service and speed of kitchen.

when the water's high enough we like to take the boat over. When its not we'll still make the drive as it's a fun stop. Food is acceptable, a full bar, outside dining, and inside sports TV's. Works for us.

We enjoyed a great lunch dining experience sitting on the patio overlooking the lake, sitting at patio furniture like we lived there, music SOFTLY playing in the background. (The front of the building is not impressive and the inside is "just a bar", the patio was sunny and fun.) Great waitress, friendly and prompt service, great advice. Our food came out in 15 minutes. I had a pork tenderloin "like they have up north" and it was. Great batter, huge pounded tenderloin that dripped over the sides of the bun. Homemade chips were crunchy and not greasy. My friend got the hookie melt, pieces of chicken over a bed of sour cream and onion layered with wing sauce, smothered in cheese and broiled. She loved it. Both were about $10. Water, margarita and O'Doul's were great. The special was grilled cheese and beef stew which sounded yummy. View was lovely. The food was above average. Other tables had the delicious-looking build-your-own-burger and seared tuna. The patio does allow dogs-thankfully none were there when we were, nor were there smokers. We would not hesitate to dine here and recommend it to friends!

We enjoyed Jaxsons very much. The food (Pork tenderloin sandwich, cheese burger, soup and house original appetizer) were really, really good. Soup was home made and delicious. Portions on everything were large. Patio dining was nice. Like sitting on a Florida porch lakeside. Rustic old Florida interior. The only negative was the service. Very polite and accommodating but very slow, forgetful and poor timing. Everything else was GREAT! YUM!

This place is unclean. Don't sit out on the patio. Chairs and tables are dirty and dust hanging on fan blades. Service is typically slow and unfriendly--unless you are a regular and you get all the attention. Food is average quality. Best to keep going down road to Dock 633

The ambiance is less than par but the staff is fantastic and the food is great! If you are looking for a place to eat in Lake Placid you should definitely give this place a try.

Oh. My. Gosh. This is honestly one of the worst experiences at a restaurant that I have ever had. Upon walking in, we were not greeted by anyone and assumed we should seat ourselves. After at least ten minutes, a very unenthusiastic waitress finally came over and brought us menus. I ordered the sweet tea to drink...nothing special. For lunch, I ordered the turkey and provolone with lettuce and mayo on Texas Toast and sweet potato fries on the side. After waiting 45 for my sandwich, I was extremely dissatisfied with my meal. The first thing I noticed was the tomatoes that were added into my sandwich. Next, I realized the mayo smeared carelessly in a little bowl on the side (I'm sure it would have taken another 10 minutes for them to spread it on). The funniest part? The "Texas Toast" was just plain old white bread that was toasted. The sweet potato fries were mediocre. I quickly ate my food so we could get on with our day. Here's the kicker: I saw our check was over $90 (for 5 people)....they added $4.50 for the sweet potato fries and another person in my party ordered onion rings...ding on another $4.25. Regular fries were $2.25. Kudos to the waitress for never mentioning sny up charge on the sides.....if you haven't gotten my point yet: STAY AWAY. This is one of the worst experiences I've ever had at a restaurant.

Visit of Monday, August 5th. I was surprised to find that there are so few restaurants with their own water view here in the lakes area that I had to try Jaxson's on the Lake. In South Florida, next to waterways, restaurants are more common than alligators. I recommend Jaxson's first because they do have a water view (see photos) and some fairly decent food. We tried the Gator Bites, which were good but the portion was small; 5-6 ounces. The $10 Fried Fish sandwich on Cuban bread was very good, an 8-9 ounce portion of fried, flaky fish. It is a Basa fillet, which isn't, as our server stated, "Panglasius, an Atlantic fish" unless they have a hyperspace wormhole in the Atlantic that connects to the Mekong Delta in Vietnam. The fish is very good, mind you, no need to stretch what it is; it's a cheap, good-tasting fish. We finished with the Deep-Fried Cheesecake, a large wedge of pie rolled in a Graham Cracker crust with strawberries. We didn't order the signature Hookie Melt sandwich but it sounds very good; Buffalo Chicken tenders smothered in melted cheeses, chopped onion, and sour cream, between bread. Beers are extremely inexpensive here, $1.25 for a 12-ounce Miller Lite. Big iced teas and waters are common here; Jaxson's uses a 24-ounce cup. They also are running specials like 2-for-$12.99 all-you-can-eat catfish, hush puppies and fries on Monday night. The atmosphere on the patio is very relaxing. There are some residential neighbors as the restaurant appears to be a converted house. The view is of the smaller Lake Henry but at least it's waterfront. Oaks with hanging moss hover nearby adding to the old Florida charm. Country music was playing the entire time we were there, which works for me. Service could be hit or miss, but since this is a locals place the servers are likely not expected to be very polished. The brunette that waited on us was very attentive and patient, answering all our questions clearly, making it easier to decide what we wanted. The other server was much sloppier. Also "Go ahead and sit anywhere you like" was what we heard at all three restaurants we visited on this two-day Heartland visit. I don't recommend that because the first moments with a new customer are important and a critical moment of engagement is lost. By escorting them to a table, you can initiate a relationship, find out where they're from, tell them your daily drink and food specials, etc. Jaxson's is a great setting and a must-stop if you're in the area. I'd like to see the local restaurants devise a more local cuisine that employs the fish from the big lakes (e.g. bass, specks, blue gill), gives more varieties on gator (e.g. Gator Po'Boy, Gator Pasta Alfredo, etc.), and has at least one of the local Henscraft Winery dessert wines on the menu. And, of course, a few more waterfront restaurants on these beautiful lakes.

We were not at all impressed with our meal plus the place just didn't seem very clean. When we sat down there was a friend chicken finger on the floor. under my chair and the table seemed like it could use a good cleaning or replacement. My husband didn't like his prime rib as it was served cold, while my rib-eye was ok, nothing special just ok. Both of our baked potatoes were really terrible. They tasted old, and had that gray yellow color like they were left over from another day, then reheated. The salads were poorly prepared in huge chunks that had to be cut up. The vegetables were pretty good however and the service was ok, although when we left there was someone out back scooping ice into buckets with a long ash from their cigarette overhanging the bucket. It grossed me out. We won't be back.

Stay away. A ridiculous experience. Looked like a good place to go for local flavor but just a dive. It took us over an hour to get our orders. Service was rude and uncaring. It was New Year's Day and they had Univision on the big TV. We asked if they could put on one of the bowl games and they eventually got around to changing the channel. 45 minutes after order, waitress reported that they were out of essential ingredient and wanted to know if I would like to change my order. The food generally includes potato chips. They say there is a charge to upgrade to french fries, onion rings etc. They charged $4.50 extra for 6 onion rings and I think it was $3.50 for crappy French fries. I complained and they gave me 15% off the total bill which still did not cover the crazy upcharges. There was vomit on the floor near the bar. No apologies from anyone regarding our experience. Food was mediocre at best. Go elsewhere.

I have been here several times over the last couple of years and was surprised to see they now serve Bud Light draft beer. This was something I could never get at Jaxsons before. As the occasional weekend warrior from Broward County, there are very few places that one can visit for food and drinks. Not only is Jaxsons a local favorite, but it is a favorite of those that come to visit Lake Placid. Service and food were pretty good. Party Dog Rick was in the house last night with his crew. I especially enjoy the back porch which is all screened in from the mosquitoes and rain. /s/ William E. Lewis Jr, Fort Lauderdale, Florida

Very good and smoking is NOT allowed indoors, they keep it on the patio which is where it is allowed...I wish it wasn't but until it's a law that they can't, it is what it is.

Looking for local eats? Local ambiance? This is a decent local bar with a screened, covered outside patio that's fairly pleasant for lunch. Be warned: it IS bar food, it is very local and there appears to be smoking allowed everywhere, even on the porch. (We didn't actually see anyone smoking while we were there, just ashtrays.) Not a lot of other choices in the area that we could find while traveling through. I give high marks to my fried catfish sandwich - outstanding and very generous. Our waitress was qujite good as well. (Sorry, didn't get her name.)

Always use to go to Jaxson's when we're in town but lately it's been pretty quiet there since Dock 633 opened up down the street seems like they took most of their business away, it's too bad because they're food was really good! Jaxson's maybe you guys should get some live music so you can complete with Dock 633!!
